I suppose if your a school but who else!

Airbrush artists frequently use multiple airbrushes at the same time. Each will have a different color to allow for quick switching. Check this out.

I wonder what sort of quality you get from an airbrush that, is, in essence, only around $15?

That was half my thinking when I saw it. If you shop around you can find a really good airbrush for that price. OK you may have to clean a few times for a paint job but then I suppose its like hypertext showed in his link if your just spraying pretty basic designs through a mask you don't really need good quality do you.

Harbor Freight in the US sell a similar 6 AB set - it contains 6 of their 'deluxe' AB's. I have a single of their AB and it works fine (don't use it much cuz I like gravity feed). Made in China but not bad. Check here:

When I was researching a new compressor a few months ago it looked to me like the biggest consumers of airbrushes wasn't modelers and those guys in the mall painting t-shirts anymore... it's make-up artists.   Most multi-brush kits I've seen seem to be geared towards them.

I guess, technically, they're still painting "models". ; )

Buy a high quality AB like Iwata, Badger, H&S or Grex and it'll last a lifetime if well maintained.

CN..my wife commandeered my old compressor and airbrush after my upgrade for that exact purpose. They can even buy foundation makeup directly mixed and formulated for airbrushing!! I don't get it either....Black Eye

I didn't get it either at first until I started looking at some of the examples of what the make-up artists did with them.  Pretty impressive stuff.  Makes sense though.  Airbrushes provide a smooth, even application of paint (or make up).  Perfect for what they're after.  The multiple guns can be explained in three words: Time is money.

They have a couple of really cool airbrush make up "stations" for that industry that could potentially carry over into this one.

This one for example...  Replace the mirror & top with a spray booth and that'd be a sweet set up.

I have a very very similar set I bought at HF for $60 about 4 years ago. The case and its contents look the same except brushes do not have the cutaway area on the colored barrel.

I primarily bought my set because it came with a swiveling six station manifold with brush holders and pressure gauge. Each brush connection port has an adjustable knob to adjust the pressure or turn it off entirely. It also had 7 air hoses and air hose adapters for connecting to a compressor.

I've only use three of the brushes with no problem. However I've only used them to apply primer, clear coats, or paint jobs where the model was all one color. No detail work done with these as a have better brushes for that.
