moisture problem

I'm sorry to read of your trouble.  I can only offer a two word answer though.  Carbon dioxide.

You might try keeping the piston cover cool by using a fan.  They get hot, and moist air passing through the hot cover causes the moisture to condense.  I used to airbrush outside too, and I always had the same trouble.

Sorry, can't give a parts no., but can try and provide links so you get a visual.  Just remember, these are all Australian websites, as that's where i live, but the parts should look similar around the world.

Also, if you don't have a moisture trap on the compressor, i assume that means you don't have a regulator either? Mine came with both (albeit, a poor regulator).

Finally, you'll just need to do a bit of a look to see what size fittings are on the compressor, you may need to buy some adapters to make everything fit.

I'd put this on the compressor. Again, just need to check the connections.

From there i run a long air hose from a hardware store to this sort of moisture trap: www.bunnings.com.au/project-air-in-line-moisture-tap-_p6273009

I then attach the braided airbrush hose directly to this moisture trap.

Keep in mind, you don't have to use the middle trap - and in fact, to do so, you will have to toy around with a number of different parts such as these (www.bunnings.com.au/spear-jackson-project-air-charge-air-syle-fittings-6-piece-set_p6270155) to make everything fit.

Thanks Chris, Can you give a part number for the traps you use or a source? It sounds line we are running the same compressor I got mine at the Hobby Lobby Little orange to gold color and you said inline? I have one at the brush but that is the only place

Not sure how you can 100% fix the problem, however, i'd suggest adding a moisture trap at the compressor too.

I use Sparmax's most basic compressor (the little gold one). It doesn't have an auto shut off, which means it runs constantly. I use three moisture traps - at the compressor, at a joint between two air hoses and then one attached to the airbrush.

If i use it long enough (say, over 40 mins) i'll still get moisture. Only thing is to turn it off, drain the traps and come back later when the compressor has cooled a bit.

In short, maybe adding an extra one or two traps will help limit the problem?
