As Chris mentioned above, Always use the trigger sequence: Air on - Paint on - Paint Off - Air Off.

It's also not a bad habit to start the airflow with the airbrush pointed somewhere away from the subject before bringing it to bear and starting the paint flow. Smile

Thanks - so basically just press trigger down for now and learn to control amt of air first before learning to control amt of paint?  Thanks . . .

No, you've got to use a hosting site like Photobucket in order to post pics.

OK - I just resized them, saved them as JPEGS, and then dragged them into the reply above but after saving they do not look like they are there.  Does this forum not allow pics copied/dragged directly?  Is there a pixel maximum size?  Is there another way?  Frustrating!!

Press the trigger and slowly pull it back.  If you pull the trigger back and press it, you'll get blotches.

Thiorian,

I'm unable to see your pics using cut and paste - do you have a better link? The posted one takes me to "Peggy's Trading Card Forum'. I think 50/50 should be a good starting place with enamel

Blotches on first time use?

Thanks to all of you for your tips/suggestions on what to buy re a compressor and airbrush in another thread!  After changing my mind a dozen items, I ended up purchasing a Paasche D3000R compressor and a Paasche Talon Airbrush.  As a newbie, I feel they will work out well for years to come.  Today, was my first time ever using both.  Before I started, I learned how to take the Talon apart and put it back together a couple of times (along with learning how to clean it properly.  Then I taped a few pieces of paper on to some cardboard and started spraying.  When I first use the airbrush on each page, the spray came out blotchy in dots. I am guessing this is user error and have included a couple of pics below.  In one pic below, the "dots are up towards the upper left side of the page while in the other pic they are towards the upper center of the page.  The Air Pressure that was on was around 28-30psi.  using an eyedropper, I mixed 15 drops of enamel paint with 15 drops of enamel thinner in a glass jar, stirred it well, and then added it the the paint cup.  Would love your tips on how to avoid these blotches please!  Thank you . . .
