Wyn Wyn is the place I get my Badger stuff from also. I will email them and ask before I order.

Thanks for that idea.

Greg and Rex -

You're very welcome, I enjoy sharing product info with others, as I've gained so much myself on FSM forums and magazine articles over the years. One idea worth passing on: I'd try to establish whether the Regdab you order or buy is actually the newer stuff. My original batch was purchased through Web Airbrushes, (or WYN WYN is another name for them,) long ago, but I don't see any labeling difference on either bottle. They are a VERY reputable Badger dealer, they could likely give you the assurance that it is a good batch if you check with them.

Good modeling.

This is a good chance to thank all the people that post their results after putting in the legwork to open the jars and bottles, etc, and show us how it actually worked in their shop. Nothing beats reading how a product works from someone that actually used it.

Rex

I second that, so very much appreciated.

Don and Patrick, thank you for the info and updates.

I had read Don's site, and had eliminated lubing the airbrush based on the older article.  Now, with that new info, I will try the Badger product.

I began the use of Badger's "Regdab" airbrush lubricant a few years ago, it was easy to apply, but I found that over a brief time it became somewhat sticky, then the brush didn't work quite as well as when originally serviced.

While talking to Don Wheeler, (a wealth of information and so helpful,) he made me aware of a "bad batch" of Regdab in the system, evidently a blending error on the part of Badger's supplier of the product. Don suggested I call Badger for a replacement, SURPRISE, the president of Badger called me right back and sent me a replacement immediately.

I cleaned and re-serviced all seven of my Badger airbrushes with the newer product, all work just perfectly now. I ran a test of the product at Don's request, three drops on a glass plate, inside testing at 72 degrees, ambient light, sample is now well over two weeks and no sign of evaporating or thickening, appears just like a freshly applied drop beside the original test.

I have no affiliation with Badger, other being a user of their products and highly satisfied with them. At a strictly personal level I heartily recommend the use of the Regdab lube, just a light film on the threaded parts and especially the needle. The needle now works so much smoother as it moves in the bearing surface, it has made a significant improvement in my ability to better handle the airbrush during the more demanding tasks, like camo outlining. Good stuff, I like it.

Thanks for the comments.

Mick --  I've never heard of Nulon.  Maybe it's not available in the U.S.  I look forward to your new reviews.

Greg -- I'm glad you like the site.  Thanks

Iwata recommends a drop of their needle lube in the trigger mechanism according to my documentation. When I've done it, I eventually end up with a gunky mess or a stuck trigger.

Thanks for the info, Don. I want to try some Regdab, but it has been difficult to find in stock. Based on your tests, I will get some sooner or later.

I'm a big fan of your site, btw. Thank you.

Hi Don.

Not the first time I have heard the gumming up problem, wonder how a smear of Nulon PTFE would go on the metal parts? bit over kill on a airbrush I suppose but I swear by it in the car.

Two more reviews coming very shortly Don.

I have added a little experiment with airbrush lube to the bottom of my Cleaning page.  Comments are welcome.
