I just use the Testors Glosscoat, either rattle can or bottle, and have never had a problem with it.  When I use the bottle stuff I just brush it on, in areas where I will be putting decals.

paint - from a rail modeler

As a die hard solvent paint user and partial to the discontinued Floquil paint line, I have found I have gravitated more towards the Testers model masters paint and their paint in the small square bottles for quite a while now even though the same colors are not available. I currently do not use acrylics, so not interested in that - will save that for another later post.

A question to anyone, a favorite clear cote before decaling was their Crystal Cote. A few good coats and the decal when applied would almost melt right in and virtually show no sign of the decal film.

I have been experimenting with Model Masters gloss clear lacquer and the semi gloss lacquer finishes along with the Sealer for metalizer that a pro rail painter in canada told me about. My results have been almost the same, but not 100%.

Anyone have other suggestions for a solvent based gloss coat finish to apply before decaling?

Thanks
