My favorite is Tamiya followed by Future.  Both spray extremely well and I've never had any issue with them.

It depends Gary. I was spraying Krylon high heat primer on a small metal fire pit for the backyard and it just stopped praying. I thought I could interchange with other nozzles but they didn't fit, even from Krylon. They sometimes make changes to the design and some will fit.

Could the Testor's nozzle be used on the other cans?

As Don said, Testors rattle cans spray a finer and better quality pattern than Krylon or Rustolium which tends to lay a heavy coat. Tamiya rattle cans also spray very well. I use the Tamiya primer right out of the can and I have been very happy with the results.

One reason I like Testors Glosscoat in the spray cans is that the nozzle is very high quality. I can put down a really thin coat, compared to what I put down with the Krylon.

Another vote for Testors.

It does costs more than the Krylon.

If you let your basecoat cure completely, there should be no issue.

teejay

Does it work with any type of paint? Is there a way to tell what kind of spray paint you are using if it doesn't indicate on the spray can?

Let the paint cure for at least a few hours before spraying the  Testors flat clear lacquer. It can be sprayed over any type paint. Brushing is different and more than likely will lift the undercoat if you brush too many times as lacquer is very strong. Spraying it is different as it goes on light and dries very quickly without disturbing the underlying paint.

For gloss I like either Future (acrylic) or Testor's clear gloss lacquer.

If it smells like hair spray it is lacquer.  Smell is about the only way I know if it doesn't say  on can.

Complicating things these days are cans of acrylic lacquer, that do not have the word "acrylic" on them- they just say lacquer.

I also use the Testors lacquer Glosscoat.  Long time ago, Glosscoat was lacquer, then they made an enamel version I did not like.  They offered both for awhile. I think now all the Glosscoat is lacquer and I really still like it.

Krylon Crystal Clear take about a week to cure. Before use, be sure that you shake the aerosol can thoroughly as the can instructions recommend

Is there a gloss clear coat that can be recommended that does not become tacky? I've used krylon primer plus paint and krylon crystal clear acrylic coat (same brand = compatible?) but surprise that after a few days it still a little tacky if you hold it for a few seconds and being white color you can see dust sticking on it.
