I can get very pure IPA and deionized (not distilled) water. What can I do with them for acrylic paint and airbrushing?
I am using Tamiya flat colors mostly. However some of the colors I need are a better match with Model Masters. I've read that you should only use water to thin those, and IPA/solvent/X20A for Tamiya. I was planning on using the IPA for airbrush cleanup.
Not trying to start a discussion that's probably been done to death. It's probably overkill to save a tiny amount of cash trying to come up with my own thinner instead of just buying the X20A. But it's the principal really. The Tamiya thinner isn't magic. I was just going to do a 50/50 mix of 100% IPA and DIW as my thinner. The DIW would serve as the retarder, however just wondering about storage ability of a thinned paint. Then again I have a whole cabinet full of solvents/spirits.
I guess I'm just fooling around with the idea of using something more pure than what you can get in the store. Just for the heck of it.
