Testors brushes

I use one for applying decal set and solvent as they are reasonably pliable and don't mess up the decals, as long as you work quickly and avoid many overstrokes.  The stuff cleans easily by dipping the brush in  water.

They are also good for any "throw-away" applications such as spredding glue.

Used them when I was just a you lad. Now I use much better quality brushes for my detail painting. The Model Master synthetic brushes are pretty nice. They don't make a small enough one for most of the fine detail work I do though. But yeah, like Chuck said, the old Testors ones are just throw away brushes.

I use them for decal solvents as well. I also cut one down to the nub and use it for pastel chalk applications.

I buy my brushes at a craft store- usually Michaels.  You will have a much better selection than any hobby shop I frequent.  In craft stores, brushes are frequently found in several subject areas, so look through the whole store.  They are usually in both the fine art painting and the craft painting areas.

I bought several Testors brushes when I got back to this hobby a few years ago. Their quality is below that of art brushes. I use them to apply pigments and decal solutions.
