                        What is the best FLAT coat to use over acrylic enamels? I have a base that needs to be dead flat and the brand new bottle of Testors flat acrylic is coming out a satin finish. It needs to be something out of a rattle can or brush on since my Airbrush system is down for now.

                        For rattle can, I've used Model Master Flat Clear, but to get dead flat I rely on an old bottle of DullCote that I airbrush. I've never gotten a dead flat with a spray product. I wanted to chime in so you didn't think we were ignoring you. Hopefully others will have an idea for you. Sorry I can't help more. Good luck.

                        I second Chris, and add the following.....

                        Personally, I haven't had a lot of luck with Testors acrylic flat, even airbrushed on. And since you need a rattle can, your choices are going to be limited. That's why I'm seconding Chris and voting for Testors Dullcoat. Just make sure the acrylic base is well-cured.

                        OTOH, If you prefer to brush on your flat coat, IMO Vallejo Matte Varnish would be a good choice IMO.

                        I've been using Testor's Dullcoat for as long as I can remember with no issues, so long as the acrylic underneath is cured.

                        On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
