I spray only Tamiya acrylics.  For camo patterns, I thin them with Tamiya lacquer thinner (usually 1:3 paint to thinner ratio).

Like anything airbrush, practice, sometime lots of it will give you your best results. The guys above are spot on with advice like this. They are some of the best here. Also painting "straight On" not at an angle may decrease overspray. The only way to get a hard edge is masking though. practice and more practice and you will find your sweet spot of thinning ratio, pressure, distance and technique.

Thanks for the tips guys, appreciate your feedback. My issues sound threefold, air pressure, paint thickness and spray distance from model.

Switching between acrylic and enamel probably hasn't help me find a consistent mix. Thinking is stick with acrylics moving forward. Will give it another go and report back.

I usually use my Iwata Eclipse w/ a .35 mm nozzle for spraying camo patterns. I use 5-10 psi, thin the paint a lot and spray from 0.5 inch from the model.

I think the Neo with 0.35mm nozzle should do fine for camo and lines. Thinner paint, lower pressure and very close to the surface to be painted should work fine. Check Don'sAirbrushTips for his review of the Neo and an example of fine lines he did.

Overspray on camo patches and lines - 1/35 scale armor

Having difficulty air brushing camo patches and lines without overspray. The Iwata NEO has .35 tip. Should I be able to paint patches on 1/35 armor without overspray or do I need a finer tip? Is technique an issue, paint thickness, air pressure? Have used both silly putty and tape to alleviate the overspray. Watching YouTube videos though it would appear people are spraying without these with acceptable results? Would appreciate input on improving my results.
