That's one thing about Tamiya products--I wish they would put English instructions on there somewhere.

"Some say the alien didn't die in the crash.  It survived and drank whiskey and played poker with the locals 'til the Texas Rangers caught wind of it and shot it dead."

I now use the Tamiya primer in bottles. No more decanting.

Hello Mike.

I decant it all the time.  It helps control the spray, especially in smaller areas.  I've successfully thinned it many times with both lacquer thinner and the Model Master thinner.  I love this primer!

Like Morrison, I was also unhappy while it wasn't available and I'm now stocked with quite a few cans.  The white is excellent as a final paint finish.

Thats weird. I have never had a problem with anything eating at it; however, I have never used Humbrol

Like just about any paint it has it's compatibility issues.

I have found that Humbrol enamels dissolve it.

So be sure and test it first.

Ran it through my AB today thinned with "Klean Strip" lacquer thinner and my goodness -- did it spray beautifully!   Even smoother then comes out of the spray can.

Tanks for your help gents.    I have been spraying it from the can for as long as I can remember. I'm just going to spray it through my AB as a test

If you just want to airbrush it, I'd suggest using the bottled version rather than decanting from the spray can. Thins with lacquer thinner and cleans up with denatured alcohol. At a pinch it can also be thinned with denatured alcohol.

Its a lacquer. But why not use the rattle can? Tamiya spray cans  work awesome and don't run or fisheye or cover any detail. They dry fast and super smooth too.

Hello modelers!   I decanted some Tamiya Surface Primer.  I would like to thin it a bit before shooting it through my AB (personal preference).  My question is: what is it?  Is it lacquer?   I am extremely congested, so I can't smell it too much; however it smells like it might be lacquer.  Tamiyas website does not say nor does the can.  Maybe i'm just stupid lol

Here is the primer (factory picture not mine)
