hello modelers! I have a expo super detail gravity feed airbrush so is this tamiya paint retarder good to clean acrylic from my airbrush.
Retarder is not a cleaner--it's a substance keeps the paint wet longer. I clean Tamiya acrylics with Windex or lacquer thinner. You could probably use alcohol, too. Check your Airbrush paperwork to see what they recommend.
You can use iso alcohol 90 or just plain water to clean Tamiya from an airbrush.
I use 91% IPA to clean my 3 Iwata ABs after spraying Tamiya. I've never had a problem.
Iwata HP-CS | Iwata HP-CR | Iwata HP-M2 | H&S Evolution | Iwata Smart Jet + Sparmax Tank
You can also add a little Windex with ammonia to the 91% isopropanol. Works very well.

Am I the only one here who clean an AB with a hardware lacquer thinner?
Spraying and cleaning I still have to wear this...

I spray a cup of distilled water to finish up, just to remove any left over chemicals.
I use Isopropyl Alcohol

I also use hardware lacquer thinner to clean out Tamiya acrylic from my airbrush. Works a charm.

If the acrylic paint has dried in the airbrush, I, too, use lacquer thinner or acetone but make sure you AB has Teflon seals and not rubber O rings.
