Purple Power is Awesome

Where can I find it? Isn't it a degreaser?

Just be careful with this stuff and prolonged contact with your skin.

You can get it at a automotive store. I just tried it this weekend on some chrome plated Tamiya parts, and it stripped the chrome off in a minute or so, and a soak for a couple of hours removed the clear coat without any scrubbing! I have used ELO for the same thing, and it took many soaks, scrubs, and more soaks to get the same results. I also tried PP on some gold painted Fujimi car wheels, but it didn't work so well. But as a chrome stripper, it is super.

I've used  Purple Power and agree it works great at cleaning acrylics. Got mine at NAPA. There is also a product that's similar called "Super Clean" (comes in a purple bottle) which I picked up at one of the auto stores. It also works well.

Purple Power and Castrol Super Clean came out about the same time.  I swear by Super Clean for degreasing engines but it's pretty harsh stuff.  It will ruin the anodization on aluminum fairly quickly so if you have an anodized ab like those pretty, blue Badgers... use caution.  I've heard that Purple Power removed acid from it's formulation but SC still contains sodium hydroxide.

I find Purple Power also works fairly well on enamels too.  For cleaning out really bad enamel jars I use in succession both thinner and then the PP. I find the latter in my local hardware store.

I bought PP from Walmart.  

It is also great for removing lacquer paint. I have used it a number of times on model cars and airplanes.
