Well it depends. You'd have to buff the entire kit, and you wouldn't be able to mask over it for any other colors. I'm not sure how good a clear coat sticks to it.
Nathan T It is not a paint you want to use for an over all nmf.

Why is that?

Not like Alclad at all. The gunze Mr Metal Color is easily brushed on with a paint brush, yet can be airbrushed out of the bottle. It has to be buffed. It needs no primer or black base. It is not a paint you want to use for an over all nmf.
Sounds a lot like Alclad. Anyone who has used both- can you give a comparison?

It's a lacquer based product. When airbrushed (I haven't tried brush painting) it dries very dull, but it's meant to, as it has to be buffed. I've tried the stainless steel colour and it comes up brilliantly, and as mentioned, can be airbrushed straight from the bottle without thinning. The metallic pigments are very fine and won't clog your airbrush as many "normal" metallic will.
Though lacquer based, if I recall correctly, it can be cleaned up easily with denatured alcohol.
Thank you Nathan! I've always heard of the "Mister" line of products but I have never used any of their paints before. There was a real ma-n-pa hobby shop in my town that used to carry the Mr. Surfacer stuff (which I loved) but they have since shuttered their doors.
I will check eBay and see what's out there.

Ebay. I have a few other U.S websites bookmarked on my home computer that carry it. It can be brushed or airbrushed on. No thinning required. Amazing stuff. Just so you know, it is meant to be buffed. Not that great for masking over it, but it is possible. The dark iron is awesome for gun barrels. I'll post those other sites soon.
Hi guys!
Does anyone have the Mr. Metal color in their paint arsenal? I was reading an article about it over the weekend and thought it looked pretty good. I've got a B-58 that I'd like to work on next and thought it might be a good subject for that paint.
I have never used it before nor have I ever seen the brand at any of my local hobby shops. I assume it has to be ordered??? If you've used it, where did you get it and what are you thoughts on it? Do you airbrush or hand brush it on?
Here's the article where I first heard of the stuff.

PS. I'm sorry if the link isn't a hot link. I'm not sure how to make it so.
