I totally agree with Don.  From what I've seen, gloss, satin and matte coats tend to alter the color of Alclad.  That being said; however, I havent tried, nor have I heard, what the Alclad clears do to their finishes.  I would imagine they would do the same as others.

Decals go down over Alclad quite nicely (without a gloss coat).  That is, assuming you put the Alclad down on a gloss undercoat.  I am reluctant to gloss coat Alclad, especially the polished aluminum.

Alcad II Polish Aluminum Questions

I just used Alcad II Polished Aluminum on a kit of the first time ever, looks great I must addBig Smile Anyhow, do the basic rules apply with Alcad as they would for any enamel or acrylic paints? I'm at the stage in construction where I'm going to apply decals and wash/weather but I'm scared to apply a gloss coat because I don't want to ruin my paint job. Do I still apply a gloss over polished aluminum? I want to protect my work, so I have to assume there needs to be a gloss coat sprayed. Will I loose my natural aluminum finish if I do? What other options do I have?
