Actually it does not work under Colourcoat naval paints from WEM.

A shame, really...

But that's what, 1 out of 100?

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

The Tamiya primer will work with any paints. I prefer the bottled version to spray with my airbrushes.

Tamiya Fine Surface Primer is fine with the paints you're using; in fact a lot of people use it as their first choice. It sprays a nice mist coat and is forgiving of too much coverage. Instead of sanding, I like to rub it down with a coffee filter to smooth out any nubs before applying color coat(s).

Happy modeling!

Will Tamiya primer work under any paint?

Presently I do all of my model painting with Testor's or Model Master enamels, via brush or rattle can. I would like to find a white primer that goes on less thickly than the Model Master white. The Tamiya looks like it may go on as a very fine coat and I would like to try it out, but it won't work for me unless I can use enamels over it. My Hobby Lobby doesn't seem to stock much Tamiya apart from the primer. Please understand that an airbrush is not in the cards for me in the foreseeable future. I am interested in rattle can applications, if that makes a difference. Thanks for you help!
