Or even non-paint markers are useful. They make nice transparent/translucent effect. They work nice over chrome/aluminum plating for a burned effect, useful for car or cycle exhausts, etc. I use red and green markers for marker lights on wingtips and car taillights. Brown markers can make rusty effect.

I see many Gundam markers on eBay. AFAIK, there's nothing special about Gundam markers. Any enamel or acrylic markers will do.

Don,
Thanks for the insight. I have been trying to find alternative ones for her as well. Creos makes a wide array of paint markers for her Gundams it's just proving almost impossible to find them here in the US. I don't know if it is a distributer issue or an import issue, I just wish you could find Creos products here stateside.
Many brands of marker are quite useful for modeling work. A discount store near me had a bargain package of thin pointed markers, twenty in the pack, for a buck, in a complete rainbow of colors. I use them quite a bit.
