I finished my build, and must say I really enjoyed this build using brush paint. Testers enamel brush paint whent  I really enjoyed this build using brush paint. Testers enamel brush paint went on pretty good, but still need to play with it.  I'm guessing it is best to brush on one coat, let dry overnight and brush on second. I am building a 1/72 SBD and will try Testors acrylics.

Great job! I've brushed enamels and acrylics and they have their own particular charms. I usually don't thin my paint. The three coats you laid on is about right; it never covers completely on the first go around. I've also learned not to use a lot of strokes when laying down the paint, it stresses the paint and keeps It from levelling out.

There's a YouTube channel titled Rob BasicModelling that you may want to check out. He does all his painting using good 'ol hair brushes...I haven't checked out his channel in a while, but I think he has some good tips.

First Brush Paint job

I just brush painted my first model and I must say it was fun. I primed the plane first and brushed Testors enamels using 1/2 inch sable. I thinned the paint but did not look very good so I used full strength with better results, 3 coats. I am using a Testors because that is what the hobby store has and I don't want to order paint. I want to brush paint 1/48 scale next, should I try thinning again? Also the hobby store has MM acrylics would that be better or stay with the enamels?
