Yellowing of Future?

I think the oldest model I have that's has a future coat is 6 years old and  neither it or the future I bought than, which I still have, show any signs of yellowing.

I have been using the stuff for probably 15 years or more and no yellowing on those builds. I wish that I could say the same for the ones that I used Testors rattle can gloss coat and dull coat on. Those builds show some serious yellowing nowadays. Mind you they were built over 20 years ago now, but...

I used to make the mistake of dipping a  paintbrush directly in the bottle of future, thinking the brushes were well cleaned.  Well they tainted the Future a slight bit and I only found out after I had completed a model. A white model no less.  Always pour it out into a clean cup if you have to hand brush it.

I don't think you will have a problem. Of course keep the sun from ever hitting a model anyway.

And true that Testor's gloss and dull coats can yellow badly over many years.

The acrylic Future (or whatever it is called this month) seems to fare much better.

Future in the bottle will yellow after many years. I had a bottle well over 15 years old that began to yellow and I replaced it about 6 years ago with the current bottle I have now, about almost 1/2 down but still crystal clear.

Testors Gloss Cote will also amber over time, specially if used over white. I have a bottle of Floquil Crystal Cote that is about 25 years old and is clear as daylight but then a bottle of Floquil Hi Gloss from 2002 has turned a golden honey color.  

I always thought that was their claim to fame as a floor wax,special no yellowing formula ?

I think it won't yellow once it's cured.

But they tell you to strip it off the floor and start over, after every second or third application.  That tells me  there must be some degradation with time, or just from wear and tear.  Anyhow, I have never had any trouble with the stuff on models.

That's to avoid heavy buildup on the surface and to maintain a fresh thin cover on the floor. I remember using Future over linoleum floors in the 60's and 70's then we switched to ceramic tiles.

I also have 2 bottles of Future which are easily 5 years old each, and models coated with Future that are at least 4 years older than that, and no yellowing.  My models are not in the sun, however, and I keep the Future bottles in a cool location away from light but never seen problems with future yellowing on its own.

Marketing ploy, to get you to keep buying Future.

I've brush painted Future on small scale models and it has shown yellowing where it pools. I guess it depends on how many coats.
