Both flavours of Vallejo (ModelColor & ModelAir) OD are indeed very brown, the ModelAir moreso. The ModelColor OD is more greyish than the ModelAir.

Testors makes a new shade of OD, OD #8, that is supposed to be matched to the WWII OD shade of the same name.

What is the FS number on the Vallejo Olive drab? There should be a FS# labeled on the bottle.

I personally find many Vallejo colors way off (e.g., German dark yellow).  I am not an expert of armor colors. But they don't look right to me and I don't use them although I have lots of Vallejo paints.

I use Tamiya OD lightened with Tamiya Buff.

Vallejo Olive Drab

I'm working on an American version of the Ward LaFrance heavy wrecker. I was planning on using Vallejo paints but I'm not so sure about their olive drab. It looks too brown to me. I know there is no standard OD color, but it seems to me all of them should be closer to the green side than the brown. Are my eyes just not picking up the green very well. My wife thinks it looks pretty brown, too. Have others of you rejected Vallejo's OD because it is too brown? What do you use for OD if not Vallejo?
