I'll look into it. Thanks Don.

My local hardware store carries regulator/gauge units by Coleman.  Not too expensive, and I have used them on my setups and they work fine.

I went to the hardware store to get a regulator/moisture trap unit, and it has been working fine for over a decade.  You just have to make sure you get the correct fittings so that you can connect everything together.  I added a quick disconnect fitting to my airbrush hose so that I could store it and the airbrush separately.  I think a lot of folks do that.

I added a Sparmax tank to my Iwata Smart Jet compressor 2 years ago.  I didn't like the regulator/moisture that came with the tank and, thus, replaced it with an Iwata.  It's been performing perfectly although I rely on a MAC valve to adjust the psi.  That is, I set the tank psi at 30 and adjust the pressure on the fly with a MAC valve.

Thanks for the input. Fortunately, this particular compressor is very quiet.

I would haul it down to the local Grainger, Kragens or somewhere where there're mechanics behind the counter. Bring your hose and a/b as well. Usually that's the kind of thing those guys enjoy, as opposed to selling lightbulbs all day.

One significant caveat with commercial air compressors. They are usually noisy. It's a serious problem for hobby use, because you usually are working after dinner, while the neighbors are home or the kids are in bed etc. So I would seriously consider whether you can deal with the noise. iIf it's quiet, great!

Regulator Recommendation

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. I did a quick search and didn't find anything. I have an old Gast commercial grade compressor that I am adapting for hobby use. The regulator/moisture trap that is on it now is no good and I need another one. Any recommendations and/or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryan
