Just a note from the plumber, its a water heater, not a hot water heater. If the water is hot, it doesn't need to be heated. Sorry to split hairs

Remember that many organic vapors are heavier than air and can find a point of ignition. I had a colleague lose his facial hair (including eyebrows) by using acetone to clean up clay from the shop floor; vapors reached the hot water heater downstairs and flashed. He was pretty lucky considering the possibilities. Always safer to find a way to vent outside.

That is what I was thinking but wanted to ask everyone here what their opinion was on it. Thanks again for the insight.

Regardless of whether your units are gas or electric, I would keep my booth separated from them by as much space as you can allow. Especially the exhaust portion of the booth. If you buy a booth from a company such as Artograph, which has a charcoal filter to adsorb any vapors, the hazard risk should be somewhat less; regardless, organic vapors need to be kept away from flame or any other potential ignition source.

Spray Booth

I am thinking about puting a spray booth in my basement, not sure where to put it. I have my furnace and hot water heater in the basement also. How far does the spray booth need to be from these items? Could they ignite the fumes?
Thanks for all of your help.
