Rookie

you should give Flory Washes a try. They are water/clay based and are just outstanding to work with. Only catch is that the product is only available directly from Flory Models in the UK.

If you used the lacquer glosscoat it will stand some wiping with enamel thinner.  You must be careful but quick wipes should be okay.

Thanks Chris, I don't know why I thought all washes were wipeable with water. I have already applied Glosscote over the model so assume I can't use thinner to remove any enamel wash without harming the finish so will go to a water based wash.

It's an enamel wash, so you have to use an enamel thinner to wipe it off.

Trouble with Tamiya Panel Line Wash - Can anyone help me?
Posted by Rookie104 on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 5:21 PM

I tried Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color (Black) for the first time today. I used it on a fuel tank for a 1/32 Academy Hornet. I was under the impression that you just applied it to the lines and then took a wettish cloth and wiped off the excess after it had set awhile and the lines remained darker and the rest cleaned up..

The tank is painted with Tamiya's spray can enamel with a coating of Tpertors #1261 Glosscote over it. Both these coats had been applied many days before.

When I went to wipe off the excess it was just like paint and really didn't want to come off. I did rub some off but had to clean up those applications with very fine sandpaper and it looked good then. Tried one more time and the same thing.

Am I doing something wrong here or are my expectations unrealistic in that I thought you just applied and wiped off excess with no problem.

Appreciate any comments. Should I be using something else that may be easier to use?
