Anyone used Tru-Color Paint?
Posted by EBergerud on Sunday, September 6, 2015 2:52 AM

Always on the lookout for a new paint. Finescale had a small add announcing metallic colors from Tru-Color paints. Checked the web and they have a lot of colors - directed toward railroads and many of the same color as Pollyscale. I have good luck with railroad product, but I can't find any reviews for the stuff on any military sites. Company describes it as solvent based acrylic. Like Tamiya? Let me know if anyone has given it a try.

The Tru-Color paints are not at all like Tamiya acrylics. Their solvents are much more toxic. The paint smells like lacquer and may be thinned with lacquer thinner, so it should be treated like a lacquer in terms of fumes, etc.

Also, the paints are semi-gloss to glossy, although they have a flat, brushable line of colors I haven't tried. They do airbrush like a dream. However, because of the fumes, I won't be using them much personally.

That's what I wanted to know. A powerful lacquer is something I'd avoid like the plague. Just don't have the spot for a spraying booth and fan. My wife hates the smell and I don't like it either. Thanks Eric
