Thanks, everyone, for all the tips. I know the distilled water trick. Can anyone tell me what the ratio of water to vallejo paint is for thinning? Thanks!Cool

Solidly agree with Greg and Tojo, Tamiya is alcohol based, not at all compatible with Vallejo. If thinning Model Air is required, their thinner works well as does distilled water. I tried lacquer thinner out of curiosity, seemed to work OK, but it was only for testing purposes.

That test displayed tip dry tendency a bit, Liquitex Flow Aid took care of that.

For spraying Vallejo,I have been having great succes with their thinner 71-161 and their Airbrush Flow Improver 71.262  no tip clogging !!!

Best not to.Tamiya thinner is alcohol based and alcohol gums up Vallejo paints and results in a gunky mess.

Hi peeps,

I'm wondering if I can mix a combination of Tamiya paint thinner and a couple Vallejo "model paints", and if so, what ratio to mix them? I'm using an Iwata Revolution airbrush at 45 psi and hope I can get these paints to airbrush smoothly. I read another forum after googling my question where someone mentioned that Tamiya paint thinner and Iwata paints don't mix because they get clogged in the nozzle of the brush, or the different chemical compounds, or something to that affect. If anyone has any tips or recommendations to a practicing modeler, I would be very appreciative!! Thanks! Big Smile
