The alchohol is a solvent for the acrylic paint but shouldn't affect the plastic. It should help clean any oil residue from handling but it wouldn't act as a primer on the plastic. Shouldn't cause you any problems though.

Prepaint Cleaning

Just to preface, I'm back into this after over twenty years and loving it. I'm using my old Iwata HP-BC with Tamiya acrylics and couldn't be happier. After pre-assembly washing on the sprue, I wanted to clean off any residue from my hands and building, but didn't want to disturb the PE and other delicate details with another washing (plus this is Tamiya's 1/35 R/C Tiger and the guttywhats are installed). I wiped down the surface with a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl, figuring it's the paint's solvent so it would almost have slight priming effect to it. Question is, has anyone else tried or are there any known problems with this?
