Preferably I would spray both. If you need to brush it, I would mask off those areas. It would be even better if you prime the body before painting, it helps the acrylic to cover better.

paint brushing acrylic

I have a car model that requires both gloss and flat. Since majority of the body requires gloss paint I'm thinking of either masking off areas that will be paint brush with flat black acylic or just spray the whole body and paint brush the areas needing flat color. The reason this is a dilema is I'm wondering whether paint brushing acrylic on top of a gloss paint model will easily rub off when getting touch or painting brushing on top of fresh plastic? If either one or both cases will result in paint easily rubbing off, what do you recommend to prevent this from happening?
