Tamiya aluminum acrylic.

Hi, all - Anyone have any input about this product? I see it on the shelf at store, haven't bought it yet to try, thought I'd ask here first. I'm guessing it's rather on the flat side, sound right?

Last, how durable is it for handling and masking tape removal? Thanks in advance.

Yes it is flat in finish. I like it for airbrushing on. I works well in that manner, and is quite durable for handling or masking, like all other Tamiya paints. Not the best for a bare metal finish, but very good for use on subjects that are Aluminum lacquer or dope that many aircraft are.

Thanks, Stik.

I'm guessing it would work well with a little semi gloss top coat, to replicate auminum aircraft parts, like landing gear legs, etc.

Will try and then post results, seems like Alclad is a bit too polished in appearance for many forged/cast components.

Pat ...I like to decant tamiya bare metal silver  (As-12) it airbrushes on with out thinning. .it gives a fine Finnish ..better then tamiya xf16 or x11 both too gletery .as-12 gives that forged look that you want ...ei. landing gear ..just remember to let it sit in a paint jar. .led losely on so the propellant can boil off ..cheers. .peter
