Model Master &POLLY Scale color match
Posted by jeffpez on Monday, December 7, 2015 5:37 PM

Now that Testors has released some of the old POLLY Scale colors in their Model Master acryl line I was wondering if anyone has determined if they're an exact match with each other. I'm planning on using Caboose red on part of the under carriage of a Trumpeter BR-52 locomotive I'm working on and have some of each brand. I wasn't planning on using both but I'm curious if I could do so without it being obvious they were two different paints. Does anyone know?

Do you mean the Railroad colors of the standard military colors? The way I understood, Testors Model Master bought out Polly Scale and they're not the same colors as the original Polly Scale color standards.

Any painter can tell you, don't depend on color consistency. Absolutely your best bet is to mix them together befor you paint. Only way to guarantee you'll be consistent

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

The railroad colors. The military colors are also missed but have been gobe for many years now and my supply is also gone. I don't plan on mixing the two different brands but was simply curious. Maybe when I get to the actual painting I can use both in a test.

I'm not so sure about this, good buddy. If you see them on the shelf at hobby shops, pretty sure it is just whatever inventory they have left since '13.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

On the OP, I second what GM said. Even with same brand and color, I'd be wary of consistancy between batches.
