Removing Micro Mask

Well, the deed is done, the Sturmtiger is painted and I'm just about ready to kick some booty at the next show. It looks really good. But....just as I feared, that darn Micro Mask was a bear to remove out of the tight spots. It lifted some paint right off the PE fenders, just as you said Tweety1. Pretty easy to touchup though, so no worries. I could not have done this paint scheme without the masker, but I think I'll try to find one that is a little more flexible. And don't get the stuff on the intake screens, it is nearly impossible to remove.

I'm painting with Polly Scale acrylics. Some of the masking does have paper embedded in it, other spots do not. I'm afraid that removing the MM will rip-off the paint from the PE fenders and be a _itch to get out of the crooks and crannies on the engine deck. Oh well, if it happens, it happens. Thanks for the tips.

Are you painting with enamels or acrylics??

Micro Mask will peel away from enamels quite easily, but with acrylics it has a tendancy to stick fast, and stay stuck!!!

I would not apply MM to metal without some ort of primer first, does the same as with acrylics.

This is what has happened to me in the past, and to aid lifting the mask up, try sealing a small piece of paper or tape in it, makes life alot easier when you try and remove the mask.

It should lift right off- try atest area first!
