Spray Booth Advice Please
Posted by kw0301 on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 11:57 PM

Hello all ... new to site.  I have a question for all of you out there.  I am looking to purchase my first spray booth and would like opinions on which is better.  Here are the two I am torn between:

Paasche Table-Top Spray Booth HSSB-22-16 http://www.paascheairbrush.com/discount-class/b/HSSB-22-16

and

Pace 24" Mini Plus

http://www.pacepaintbooths.com/pace/Products.htm

Any advice is greatly appreciated ..... even if its a suggestion other than the two i have listed.  Thank you

I have the HSSB-22 which I like very much. You can get it for about $250 on Ebay. I think it has more space (toward the back) than the Pace and the back vent is easier to use.

Is there any form of lighting in that HSSB-22?

That's one of the considerations for a booth.

I have the Paasche, or one just like it. It's great. I set mine on a piece of that rubber flooring you see in restaurant kitchens. I buy furnace filter and cut it up.

As for lighting that is key and it doesn't have it. But I have a 18" flourescent strip fixture thats ealed up in a case with a lens, kind of the cheapo type that's sold for under upper kitchen cabs.

The floor of the thing is just the length of my newspaper, which makes keeping the surface clean really easy.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

it doesnt but that isnt a deal breaker for me.  i have an ancient telescoping double bulb flourescent drafter's light that could guide ships to shore (lol) that i can dirct into the booth if need be.

at this point i think i will go with the hssb-22 as it is @$80 cheaper than the pace model.  just curious what everyone thinks.

thanks for the responses

The Paasche does not have lighting but I bought four LED lights mounted on a magnet that I attach to top of the booth that I can rearrange as needed.

I purchased the Pace Peacekeeper a few months ago and have been very satisfied with the product. Can't speak for the smaller ones, but even the large one always seems too small, but the built in light is nice considering the overhang in the booth. The smaller ones are so open you probably will be fine with the ambient light  in the room. Adding small lights to a booth that small will likely cast a lot of shadows since they are so close to the subject.
