x-21 dullcoat

I test painted this on an old figure, and it dried a milky white layer, that somewhat rubs off when you rub it with your finger. What is wrong?
It was stirred up completely.

Tamiya X-21? That is not a dullcoat. It is a flat base and is intended to be mixed with other paints to make them flat or semi-gloss. Don't use it straight. SorrySad [:(]

Use a clear flat. Like ModelMaster Acryl clear flat, or mix Future floor wax with your X-21 about 1:1 for a real flat finish.

You can also mix Tamiya X-21 Flat Base with Future. 10:1 (Future:Base) gives a semi-gloss or satin finish. 5:1 a pretty decent flat finish, and 3:1 a real flat finish. I haven't tried it with a hand brush though, only through an airbrush.
