Yes Humbrol has an acrylic line now as well. But none of the local shops carry it.

FYI, US Interior Green is pretty much a mixture of Yellow Zinc Chromate with Lamp Black added by the manufacturer. Eventually it became standardized with ANA standards in 1943. At least according to what I have read from Dana Bell and IPMS Stockholm.

I am aware Humbrol comes in enamels as well. Should have bought them from SprueBrothers or MegaHobby instead of Amazon. Both  had them for $1.99 each. Amazon charges too much for hobby related stuff. The IP looks pretty good BTW.

Good to hear. One question though - is the Humbrol Interior Green acrylic? If not, you can't mix acrylic with enamels. Tamiya paint are acrylics, Model Master comes in both acrlyic and enamels. If you did mix acrylic with enamels, you've already ruined the paint.

Yep, humbrol paints are acrylic (they may make enamels as well, but I rarely use them).  It retails for about 3.99 on Amazon but is considered an "add-on" item that ships with other purchases.  Here are a couple shots showing the color - its kind of hard to see it, but its pretty close and should look great with a wash over it.

On the Bench:

  • Tamiya 1/48 A-1J Skyraider (USAF)
  • Tamiya 1/48 He-219 A-7
  • Tamiya 1/48 P-47M

In the Fridge:

  • Modern Times Brewing Blazing World
  • Lawson's Finest Liquids Sip of Sunshine
  • Half Acre Gone Away IPA

As I was about to order some Humbrol Interior Green - which I found out is a pretty solid match and much easier to obtain than Gunze Interior Green - I decided to give it a go mixing it.  I got pretty dang close by mixing (roughly) a ratio of 5:2:1 MM Chromate Green:Tamiya Flat White:Tamiya Olive Drab.  I didn't measure it but that should be very close to what it ended up being.  I'll post some pics once its cured and the PE parts are attached.  But if anyone should need to mix a custom color to match the Eduard sets that should at least provide a good starting point.

Model Master 4735 Green Zinc Chromate is my go-to Zinc Chromate for all my WW2 aircraft kits and it is the same color as Gunze Interior Green.

I do, however, brush a bit of Model Master Black Detail Wash and wipe off a bit after 5 minutes to give it a weathered look. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to get it to be an exact match as Gunze.

In Tamiya, I believe you're looking somewhere between XF-4 Yellow Green (too yellow) and XF-71 Cockpit Green (Just a tad too green)

Matching tamiya/model master to Gunze H58

Has anyone ever attempted to match Gunze H58 Interior Green using Tamiya or Model Master paints.  I found a chart that says MM Interior Green is a match but it doesn't look right to me.  I'm painting the cockpit of a Hellcat and am using an Eduard PE set.  I'd like to get the paint as close as possible and haven't been able to find Gunze H58 anywhere here in the states (I found some on Ebay but it was coming from China and wouldn't arrive until May).  It looks like maybe chromate green with a bit of OD and white..?  I'm not great at mixing paints custom though.

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give me.  Thanks!
