My DIY Disposable Booth, w/pics
Posted by Wesleycharlessmith on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 12:05 PM

I just finished my own DIY disposable paint booth today.  I call it disposable because it is just a cardboard box with add-ons and if it gets too grimey I will just pull my fans a light and get a new and improved box!

This is the box I started with.  I work at an auto parts store and it is a heavy duty cardboard box that antifreeze comes in.

These are the two fans I used.  They both came out of an old computer and are brushless 12V fans.

I traced the outer edge of the fans to know where to cut the holes.

Then I cut the holes inside the traced lines.  I wasn't concerned with having the fans flush mounted as the box will probably eventually be replaced.  I taped the edges of the fans down to get a good seal and hold them in place.

This is the light I mounted in the top.  It is a 12V LED light.  I choose this one because the fans are 12V as well so I can work from one power source.

Inside view with fans and light mounted.

Outside view with fans and light mounted.

I used steel wire to build a frame for the filters to sit on.

I used an old pair of socks for the filters.

Here it is all set up with the Monte Carlo I am working on in it.  I made the stand as well with a steel plate, solder, steel wire and aligator clips.

It works really well and I did not spend a dime using stuff from around the house/work.  I would recommend a build like this to anyone as it is super easy and works really well.  Hope you enjoyed my build!
