My advice: practice on a scrap kit first. I've got 3 or 4 spare scrap kits to practice on various wethering techniques.

Doing so will save you a ton of heartaches ruining a good kit.

Hopefully you're clear coating your model before attempting any of this.  If you're removing paint, then you're mwking the critical mistake of using the same type medium to weather as you did to paint.  For example, if you're painting using enamels, your can only come back with enamels on weathering if you've sealed it with an acrylic clear and vic the versa.  Sounds like you've got too much thinner on your brush.  Think about  it like dry brushing.. It takes time.

Having trouble with streaking

Hello

People have told me on these forums that the best way to do streak effects is to use a toothpick and dip it into paint, poke the model and brush down with a brush that has only been dipped in thinner

I trialed it and it wasnt as good as I had expected. The thinner either killed away the paint when I brushed down and made a mess on the model, or I brushed away a bit of thinner and I brushed down and the paint didnt move at all it just stayed as a dot or it was rarely succesful but there was a lot of excess thinner and I tried to wipe it away but there was still shiny stainy thinner sticking out like a saw thumb

How do I fix all of this?

Thank you a lot

Tamiya please produce these models: TOG II*, Bob Semple Tank, Renault FT-17, Black Prince, 1/350 HMS Vanguard and more British stuff! If anyone works Tamiya or can pass this on, please do so!
