Are you sealing the final paint in a gloss coat before wash ?

Personally, I apply my oil washes over a matte finish. Most prefer satin or gloss, but either works.

One solution is to is to apply a light layer of clean thinner to the area just prior to, or just after, you apply the wash. You don't need to flood the model with thinner--apply just enough to get the surface damp.

Haven't used any of those products mentioned so don't know about compatibility. It is sealed. Sounds to me like wash might have to be thickened. But, I'm a relative newbie and if I were you I'd try Hypertex's suggetion before monkeying around with less thinner. Also you should get more responses and suggestions. Best of luck.

I use gloss as a base. You can wipe the excess wash off easily.
