Tamiya TS-36 Fluorescent Red issue
Posted by Kelvinator on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 9:19 PM

I am working on 1/20 Tamiya McLaren Honda MP4/4 and using Tamiya TS-36 Fluorescent Red as instructed for the body color. Unlike the other TS I have been using, the Tamiya masking tape will leave a smear of glue on the dried TS-36 surface which ruined some of the finished parts as a result. I would assume all Tamiya products would be comparable?

Sounds to me  you didn't let the paint fully dry amd cure completely before masking. I've never had issues with Tamiya masking tape.

I'll second that. I have in the past had issues where applying Tamiya tape to regular gloss Tamiya acrylics has transferred the texture of the tape (not the glue) to the paint's surface when the paint hasn't been fully cured & hardened.

I gave 2 days of dry time, polished with Nova and waxed with Tamiya wax. It shined like a mirror the moment I finished but the surface turned to matte a day after. Again I have been following the same procedure for all the race cars I built with Tamiya products (except Nova) in the past and never had that happened until with TS-36. And the smell of TS-36 is very pungent compares to the other TS. Could be the ingredients caused the problem I have?
