hi   I painted some parts with alclad polished aluminium over a good gloss blk. Did'nt turn out as shiny as I hoped. Topcoated with alcad aqua gloss. Still not happy. can I topcoat with chrome ?    thanks for any insight.   Keep on build'in   aardvark

You need to spray in SEVERAL light coats to get the effect you're looking for.

The thinner the better.  And I find I need to stick with that thin coat- more coats makes less gloss.  Dial paint flow way back, and as soon as black color goes away, stop!  You need good lighting of the painting area.

No, the black would be far more opaque than the aluminum and destroy the aluminum color.  In fact, I do not like to coat alclad at all- I think any clearcoat would reduce the sheen.
