Testor MM Gray Primer is my favorite primer and what has worked for me is to airbrush a thin coat over the entire fuselage(almost a dusting). I prepare the primer by thinning it 1:1 with Floquil Dio-Sol which makes it dry faster. I set up my air pressure to approx. 15 psi. On average the primer will completely dry in about 24 hours, but I allow 48 hrs to be certain it will stand up to filling and sanding any blimishes it reveals.

MikeV, thanks for the info and for the links.

kik36, thanks for the tips.

I'm getting sick of the occasional thick glob from a spraycan.

Thanks,

DJ

I use the Gray Primer pretty regularly out of my airbrush. The best tips I can tell you, is 1) let it dry for as long as possible...at least 48 hours.....2) wet sand it. if you dry sand it, the paper will stick to it, and it will almost roll off, instead of sand off. That's the best way I can describe it. Otherwise it works pretty well.

Yes, Testors makes primer in a bottle in their Model Master Car and Truck enamel line. http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=987

I have never used it so I can't comment on it. I have only used the Floquil primer which I like a lot. http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=58

Wondering if Testors makes enamel primer in a bottle as opposed to a spraycan, so I can airbrush it? Also, could you use acrylic primer and then paint over it with enamels? I'm in the process of using up my enamels.

Thanks,
