Score! New AB compressor
Posted by Phil_H on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 1:59 AM

Well then, it looks like my local Aldi had a pile of stock they wanted to shift. This was advertised several weeks (months?) ago at $99.00. I'm not sure what happened but perhaps they had to take them off display to free up space for other stock. At any rate, they were there and then they were gone.

About 4 days ago, I was passing through and they were back on display at $99.00. Today, they were red-tagged (clearance) at $39.99 and at that price, it was a no-brainer. Smile (That's about $29.95 USD)

This replaces my 30-year old, pulsating diaphragm compressor on which pressure is adjusted with a bleeder valve.

Painting should be much more enjoyable now.. Wink

If this showes up at our Aldi, bought. Thanks for the heads up!

Where is it manufactured from? China?

Yep, made in China.

It looks like the same unit sold by Harbor Freight (and a lot of other outlets) in the US.

The included airbrush looks like a generic copy of the Badger 150. It feels solid but I haven't tested it yet, so I can't say how it performs.

I have (or rather had) one of these Chinese made compressors, as sold from TCP.  It lasted about 22 months, so it still qualified for their 2 yr warranty.  It's been a been week since they initiated a warranty replacement order.

It does the job, but I found it easily generates heat, and therefore condensation develops quickly in the moisture trap.   Reviews I have read state the Chinese do no quality control on these units, and so it could last a while, or not.

regards,

Jack

I own the same exact one except I got mines from HFT.  It works great and I had mines for a little over a year and a half.  You got to steal that away as I paid $99.00 USD.  Mine also came with a siphon feed AB.  It's a great little purchase for the price.  You did excellent sir!

Me too!

My first H/F compressor tanked on me, about a week before the warranty was up. Took it in (forgot to pack up the included a/b...they did not care, and traded me for a new one, including another a/b). I bought another compressor-a/b combo while I was there, as well as their finer 2x action a/b. The compressors get HOT, so I have the two, so I can switch back and forth. My paint booth sessions can last up to 5 hoursSurprise

A little note on H/F's airbrushes. Obviously, they are not top notch, but they do a decent job....right up until they don't anymore! The a/b that comes with the kit (red handle) is good for basic stuff/larger areas. They sell another (blue handle) that is much finer...1/72 German "spagetti" squiggle camo is almost doable with it...1/48???, no problem! Not bad at all, for $20!

Me three.  Have two of the AB too.  Just bought an Iwata NEO gravity feed on Amazon for $60. Wow what an airbrush.
