I've been doing this long enough to know better about mixing different types of paint so when it came to painting Tamiya's new NSX I went with lacquers only. For the body color I tried using Alclad II candy ruby red. I sprayed it over a coupe of coats of Tamiya spray can primer and Alclad's silver candy base. Finally I finished it with Tamiya rattle can gloss clear and the beautiful candy red disintigrated into a mess. Everything is shown as lacquer and even the name on the bottle is Alclad II lacquer. But only now do I see that despite the label calling it lacquer it also says enamel under the color name much lower on the bottle. Bottom line? Read everything and assume nothing. This was my fault and I accept it but Alclad could have done a better job also.
I'm soaking the body in Easy Off oven cleaner hoping it will disolve the paint but not the plastic.
