Will length of AB hose have any effect on the output for a hobby compressor?

Guys, will the length of hose affect the output at all on a dedicated model AB.  I'm going to switch to a badger braided 10 foot hose from a smaller hose, that's why I ask.

On my woodworking Porter Cable 6 gallon tank compressor 25-50 and even 100 foot hoses have no effect on the output. But we all know the small hobby compressors are a different beast.

If you're going from a skinny plastic hose to a braided one, there will be a difference.  Have a look at this page for some measurements I made.  But, it doesn't really matter. Just set the regulator for what works best for you.

You could always do a test, it would reguire two regulators - one at each end of the line.  First though, both regulators would have to be set equally at the same psi at the source end, and then see if there is any difference.

... or actually, keep it simple, and try each hose separately with the regulator at the airbrush end and compare the psi numbers.

Jack

I switched to a braided hose, longer & wider bore, so a larger capacity, and theoretically  would affect the pressure, but in practice, adjusting the regulator will have more affect.

It also acts as a bit of a reservoir, which took some of the 'pulse' from when I used a diaphram compressor.
