Alclad has several " sheens" of aluminum, from polished to a dull weathered aluminum.  The polished sheen is probably too mirror-like for general use, but is great for squadron commander's aircraft, museum aircraft, prototypes and such.  The brighter the sheen, the more critical the undercoat.  There are a lot of tricks for applying it.  I have been using it a lot for a number of years, and still keep coming up with new tricks.  Sure love the stuff!

I'm hoping to try the Alclad aqua alc 600 for the first time this week, I have heard good things about it. The reason is because I want to coat my Panther aus D before the decals and pin wash.

Seven years ago I scratchbuilt a UFO model that required a high-gloss metallic sheen. I bought some Alclad, followed instructions, but the project didn't come out nearly as nice as I'd heard it would, so I ditched Alclad for a while. Today, on a KC-135 Stratotanker kit, I hit the engine cowls with some Alclad Polished Aluminum, and man did it turn out nice!

I'm sorry, Alclad. I'll never doubt you again. LOL

I'll post up some pics after I have all the masking tape off.
