PV-1 Ventura
Posted by Aggieman on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 9:02 PM

I have just begun work on a Revell Ventura.  So far so good, but I'm having some difficulty with locating photographs of the wheel wells.  I have looked extensively and through my usual publications from my personal library, as well as on-line searches.  Typically I am only finding photographs of the tire, although I did find one that did show a portion of the gear bay but did not really answer the question I have, which is, what color would that have been painted in USN service?

The one photo I saw was likely from a restoration; the bay appeared to be natural metal. It was not interior green or white.  My understanding of USN aircraft is that the wheel bays were usually painted to match the underside color, whether that was white or gray. Yet every photograph I have found online of other builder's completed Venturas show the gear bays to be interior green, which in fact matches the instructions recommendation.

Anyone know this aircraft better than I apparently do and can confirm that those bays should be interior green?  Just does not seem right to me.
