The right mix for Tamiya colors
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, March 25, 2004 8:20 AM
I have decided to build a few Vietnam war 1/48th jets and did some research on the colors. The FS colors used are: 30219, 34102, 34079 and 36622. Found on the Fredriksson's color charts. But from here on it becomes fuzzy. I found some mixes on the tamiya paint database but that's it.

What I looking for is tamiya paint mixes for these FS colors with scale effect included. Who can help me out?

Thank you for your input.

This link shows some of the ones you asked about:
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_fs.htm

And this one explains the "Scale Effect":

(For 1/48 scale just add 10% white to the mix!)

Thanks Scott for your input.

I looked at the impsstockholm charts before but the weren't of that much help.
Tamiya has two paint that match the FS colors, XF52 and XF27. That still leaves FS 34102 and 36622 to mix. What I'm looking for is a paint mix that comes close to these colors.

Please help.
Thx, Jan.

According to the chart on the link I sent, FS 34102 (Forest Green) can be mixed from Tamiya XF-61 (2 parts) and Tamiya XF-65 (1 part). FS 36622 (Light Gray) is equal to Tamiya XF-19.

Hope this helps.
