How good are they?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, March 25, 2004 9:22 PM
Hello everyone, I just had a question. I just ordered an Iwata Eclipse airbrush and I wanted to know their quality. Are they any good? I ordered the gravity feed HP-CS 4500. I think it might be fairly new, so their might not be any people who have this, but how is the Eclipse in general? Thanks everyone.

you just recieved an airbrush that is top notch my friend!! i have an iwata hp-c with a .4mm needle/nozzle combo. the eclipse comes with a .35mm needle/nozzle combo and i have heard it sprays model paints with ease. when i first got my iwata, i was less than enthusiastic about the patterns i achieved. i had the .3mm n/n combo that came with the brush and started reading about the eclipse with the .35mm n/n combo and was on the verge of ordering (and may order one still just for the hey of it) until i found the .4mm n/n combo. try to find some superlube as well. this seems to help with the tip dry and cleaning steps. as with any new modelling tool, dont give up on the tool because most of the time its operator error. your gonna have to practice, practice, practice. thats the only way to get the desired results. i heard alot of positive feed back from the eclipse and the iwata line in general. later.

They are very cheaply made and it would be best to send it back and buy a Badger instead. Clown [:o)]Whistling [:-^]

Seriously though, they are excellent airbrushes and you should enjoy it very much. Wink [;)]

Definately one of the best out there, good choice!Thumbs Up [tup]. Superb fit and finish, silky smooth action, sprays beautifully, easy to clean. (Can you tell I love my HP-CS?).

How good are they? I've used just about every airbrush on the market with the exception of maybe a few and after purchasing my Eclipse HP-CS sveral years ago it's all I use for my 1/72nd scale modern jets. If your curious of how good a job it can do; check out my 1/72nd scale F-16C in Great Scale Modeling 2004 "Region 4" section of the Gallery. My F-16C wears a freehand camo aggressor scheme depicting the 414th CTS form Nellis AFB.
