Minimizing masking tape lines

If the first color is nice and smooth, I can generally get by with a single coat of succeeding colors, which helps reduce the step.  Also, clearcoats sort of reduce the step.

If there is too much of a step, or any fuzz, I will use 1000 grit wet paper to get rid of it.

How can I reduce the height of the paint line?

 

 

Spray in several light coats.

I wouldn't use regular masking tape. Use yellow Frog painter tape from Walmart. It's the same stuff as Tamiya tape.

You need to spray away from the the tape line not into it to avoid build up.Also perhaps you are spraying with too much paint or to much PSI.Less is better in both cases. As far as fixing the result you have,i'm not sure,you may need to repaint.You will probably here from others about that.
