1:32 scale cockpit display buttons?
Posted by martimous on Thursday, July 6, 2017 12:26 PM

So I'm working on a resin cockpit detail set (1:32 scale) for Trumpeter's F-117A Nighthawk and I'm trying to get a decent look to the white/light grey buttons that surround the two square-ish digital displays on the panel. Bezels for displays are semi-gloss black. Tried to hand paint the buttons with tiny brushes, but I'm not happy with the results. Is there an easier way to get them looking even? Each button is roughly 0.020" square separated by 0.010 black strips and they are on all four sides of the display.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I use toothpicks as brushes to paint those buttons and levers in cockpits.  I shake the bottle, then take the lid off and lay it upside down on benchtop. I then dip the end of a toothpick in the residual paint that sticks in the top.  That puts on just the right amount of paint to paint one or two switches or buttons.  Then I repeat.  I use those round, double-ended toothpicks.
