Top coats that can with-stand lacquer dull cote?

Hello, I'm quite new here and kinda new to painting, I mostly work on gundam/gunpla and military. I'm having a bit of a problem with what type of top coat to put on my enamels. Anyway, what is a great top coat for enamels (under) that is durable and will not be affected by dull cote lacquers (over)? I want to know for I'm not sure about what to buy and I do not want the top coat to be affected by the lacquer's adhesives. I did get a tip to use acrylic based top coat, but I want to get another opinion? Anyone care to help?
