I have been plagued for some time with disolored spots and intermittant fisheyes using tamiya acrylics. It seemed to happen more often when laying down wet coats of paint. To combat this I have been doing really light coats with low paint flow which was causing it to dry too fast and make the surface grainy. Could never figure out why it was happening and only with tamiya paints never my primers. It appears my ebay nutrient syringes are to blame. Came across an article about people who use epoxy to make fishing lures, one gentleman was having issues with his epoxy curing properly. Low and behold it appears that rubber tipped syringes contain silicone lube to make then move better. Imagine my suprise when I pulled and new syringe from the bag, pulled the plunger out and found it wet with oil. Silicone is not easy to remove so I tossed them all out. Did a test spray with paint pulled using a pipette and had no issues at all. Beware if you want to use syringes for measurements try getting norm-ject brand, they contain no by-products since they are used for chrometography and lab work. Can't believe all my issues were caused by something so simple.
